Current development status of China's polypropylene special materials market

With the continuous development of synthetic process technology, polypropylene (PP) resin is widely used in various fields with its excellent performance, and the demand is rapidly increasing, and the market prospect is promising. In 2003, China's PP resin production reached 4.268 million tons, ranking first among the five general-purpose plastics, accounting for 26.78% of the total output.

According to relevant information, PP's production capacity and demand account for a considerable share of the world's five general-purpose plastics. It is estimated that the production capacity of the world's five largest general-purpose plastics in 2006 was 1,902.66 million t/, of which PP was 48.78 million t/a, accounting for 25.64% of the total production capacity. By 2010, the consumption of polyolefins in China will increase from 15 million tons in 2002 to 28 million tons, of which PP is 10.8 million tons, LDPE is 2.8 million tons, LLDPE is 6 million tons, and HDPE is 7.4 million tons. At present, China's PP has a market gap of more than 2 million tons, and consumption will continue to grow at a relatively high rate in the next five years. According to the current market conditions, the market for some key PP products needs further development.

Before and after 2002, China's polypropylene general material market was relatively saturated, while the special material market was a large gap, and more than 70% of imported products were special materials. Although domestic petrochemical companies have noticed that this market has great potential and is rushing to develop and develop more competitive products for the market, the high-yield, high-quality, high value-added polypropylene special materials market will remain the future domestic petrochemical industry. The most important thing for enterprises to seek competitive development.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene film

Packaging materials occupy an extremely important position in plastic products. According to statistics, the world's plastics used in the packaging sector account for about 35% of the total plastic consumption. China's packaging plastics have developed rapidly, and the output has rapidly increased from 190,000 tons in 1980 to 4.65 million tons in 2003. It is expected to exceed 5.5 million tons in 2005, more than 7 million tons in 2010, and more than 9 million tons in 2015. More than 13% of the total national packaging production. From the product point of view, packaging film accounts for more than 50% of the total plastic packaging. China's biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film is one of the largest consumption areas of PP resin. In 2003, there were 86 BOPP production enterprises (123 production lines) in China, with a total production capacity of about 1.4 million t/a, and reached 200 in 2004. Million t/a (138 production lines), the output will exceed 1 million tons. In recent years, domestic enterprises have focused on improving product competitiveness, and have introduced a number of advanced BOPP production equipment. The film width can reach 8.3m and the line speed is as high as 400~500m/min. For example, Zhejiang Dadong Group introduced Bruckner Germany. 10,000 t/a production line; Guofeng Group invested 200 million yuan to introduce 35,000 t/a production line (currently the first in Asia, the fourth in the world, 10 m wide BOPP equipment); Changzhou Wujin Jinshi Group introduced 20,000 t/a in Germany Five-layer co-extruded high-strength ultra-thin BOPP production line; Fujian Hyundai Group introduced 25,000 t/a production line; Baoshuo Group plans to introduce 100,000 t/a production line. According to the current production capacity of BOPP film in China, the demand for PP resin is nearly 2 million tons per year. Therefore, it is necessary to develop PP special materials with high line speed, extensibility and transparency for BOPP film, including supporting B. , propylene copolymer to adapt to the newly introduced BOPP film equipment.

Automotive modified polypropylene

In 2003, China's automobile production was more than 4.4 million, ranking fourth in the world, up 36.6% year-on-year. According to the US ESM WerWide report: "In 2008, China's automobile production will exceed 6 million, and 2015 will surpass Japan, ranking second in the world."

The development of the automobile industry is inseparable from the process of automotive plasticization. At present, the self-sufficiency rate of engineering plastics in China is less than 16%.

According to the prediction of China Engineering Plastics Association, the growth rate of engineering plastics demand in China in 2005 was 15%, and in 2010 it was about 10%. The demand will increase from 440,000 tons in 2000 to 1.4 million tons in 2010. China's automobile manufacturing industry has rapidly increased demand for engineering plastics. By 2010, the total consumption will reach 940,000 tons (in terms of plastics, which account for 5% to 10% of the weight of automobiles). PP is used in the automotive industry with strong competitiveness, but because of its low modulus and heat resistance, the impact strength is poor, so it can not be directly used as auto parts. The modified PP products used in cars are resistant. The heat can be increased from 80 ° C to 145 ° C ~ 150 ° C, and can withstand high temperatures of 750 ~ 1000h without aging, no cracking. According to reports, Toyota's new generation of HEHCPP products with high orientation crystallinity can be used as automobile dashboards and bumpers, which can reduce the cost of similar products produced by TPO as 30%, and modified PP is used as a car. Accessories have a very broad development prospects.

Polypropylene for household appliances

In recent years, China's household appliance industry has developed rapidly, with many varieties and large output. In 2003, China's refrigerator production was 18.5 million units, 42 million air conditioners, 17 million washing machines and 35 million microwave ovens. According to the "2004-2006 China Urban Home Theater Market Research Advisory Report", it is estimated that the market size of China's home theater system will reach 6.9 million units in the next three years. In addition, various small household appliances also have a huge potential market, which is an excellent business opportunity for modified PP. At present, some plastic raw material manufacturers in China have developed special materials for washing machines such as PP 1947 series and K7726 series, which have been welcomed by washing machine manufacturers. Therefore, in the next few years, efforts should be made to develop PP household materials for household appliances to meet the changing needs of the market.
