june is made for kids month!

I've had such a blast participating in Me Made May! It's been fantastic getting into the groove of wearing and styling the clothes I've crafted for myself. Since I organized our closet switch to spring/summer gear at the end of April, it's been a joy to rediscover all those old favorites. Plus, now that spring is officially here, I’ve realized I actually have arms and legs again—not just layers of long underwear hidden under bulky sweaters! By the way, Rae and I got talking recently on Instagram about involving our kids in the spirit of celebrating handmade fashion. That sparked an idea, and we're launching a project called Made for Kids Month in June. We’d love for you to join us! The concept is simple: throughout June, let's encourage our kids to rock their handmade outfits. Whether these pieces were made by parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, friends, or even the kids themselves, we want them to feel proud to wear them. As you dive into this, keep a few things in mind: - You can join in as much—or as little—as works for your family. There’s no competition here—just pure fun! - Let your kids express themselves freely. Mismatched colors? Different patterns? Go for it! Kids love having a say in what they wear, and this is a chance for them to explore their creativity. - You don't need to participate daily. S goes to a school with a strict uniform policy, so we'll likely focus on weekends when she’s less restricted. - Remember, this should be enjoyable for everyone. If your child isn’t interested, don’t push it. We want smiles, not stress! - Share your moments on platforms like Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, or your blog using the hashtag #madeforkidsmonth. Feel free to share across multiple channels! - Use this opportunity to discuss where clothes come from. Just like Fashion Revolution Day, it’s great to help kids understand who makes their clothes and why handmade matters. - Spend some quality time crafting something together this month—even if it’s not clothing. Paintings or silly face contests work too! Let’s celebrate creativity. - Who knows? Maybe your kids will catch the sewing bug and want to try making their own clothes. June could even become the perfect moment for your first sewing lesson together. Will you join us? I hope so! *Side note: S picked out this outfit just for you. I love seeing kids express themselves through their clothes, and I hope this inspires them to embrace their unique styles!* Oh, and don’t forget to check out the related posts below for more ideas and inspiration. Happy crafting!
