core wardrobe: hollywood trousers

The other day, S and I had a blast putting together a little video showcasing the wool Hollywood Trousers I made for myself last winter. As a New Yorker, I’ve always gravitated toward classic colors like navy, black, and cream, often pairing them with camel tones. I realized I was missing out on some well-fitting trousers in these shades, so I decided to create a pair that would go perfectly with my favorite crewneck cashmere sweaters—also in navy, black, and cream. The idea was to have pieces that would work seamlessly together, allowing for versatile styling throughout the season. Monochrome dressing has always been my thing, so having a navy sweater with navy trousers was a no-brainer for me. But I also wanted to mix things up, so the video highlights some of those combinations. Here’s the video we put together—it’s pretty simple but gets the job done: [Insert Video Embed] This is just one piece of what I consider my core wardrobe. In future posts, both here and on Instagram, I’ll share more about how I build and maintain it. Now, I know not everyone shares my love for pairing navy and black. If you're considering creating something similar but aren't into my "boring" color palette, don’t worry! You can definitely opt for brighter hues—like hot pink instead of black. The key is to make sure your colors complement each other so you can mix and match your wardrobe pieces effectively. I’ll dive deeper into this idea later. If you're looking for something more relaxed with an elastic waistband, our Montauk Trousers are a great option too. Stay tuned as I continue sharing insights on building a functional wardrobe. Sewing and styling my own clothes has been such a rewarding experience, and I can't wait to tell you more about it. And now, onto the ads—I promise they won’t take away from the good stuff!
