In the first half of the year, China exported a total of 130.94 billion U.S. dollars worth of textiles and clothing, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate rose by 9.7 percentage points from the same period last year. The accumulative total income of main business of textile enterprises above designated size increased by 13.3% year-on-year, which was 3.6 percentage points higher than the same period of last year.
In the first half of the year, the overall operation of the textile economy was stable, and the main operating indicators basically achieved stable growth. According to data from the China Textile Industry Federation on the 9th, the total profit of the textile enterprises above designated size was 135.1 billion yuan, up 16.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 18.5 percentage points higher than the same period of last year. A total of US$130.94 billion was exported for textiles and clothing, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%, and the growth rate was up by 9.7 percentage points over the same period of last year.
"The stable export, especially the increase in the EU's share of exports, shows that China's textile companies have begun to squeeze out their share of the EU countries, and accelerate innovation to expand into areas with high added value," said Chen Dapeng, assistant president of the China Textile Industry Federation.
Dapeng Chen believes that although the data is optimistic, the impact of excessive cotton prices at home and abroad on the industry is still prominent, the rising labor costs have yet to be resolved, the external situation facing the textile industry is still complex.
"We must put textiles and garments under the great background of the manufacturing industry and seize the core competitiveness of manufacturing." Chen Dapeng believes that the core competitiveness is still enhancing product value through innovation and brand building, and exploring and creating markets.
China Textile Industry Federation will hold the China Garment Manufacturing Expo in Jimo, Shandong on August 19th. It will strengthen the research and development capabilities and brand effects of textile and garment companies by paralleling fashion forums, design and creative competitions, and integrate the development of the industry chain.
