Grass weaving handicrafts have become a popular and eco-friendly trend that has captured the hearts of international buyers. From small, charming houses to lively pine towers and uniquely designed boats, these crafts are made from natural and recycled materials such as birch bark, wicker, and pine cones. Their natural beauty and environmental appeal make them highly sought after by foreign customers. Suileng County has been actively supporting the grass weaving industry. It is known that the county has continuously invested in and promoted the development of this traditional craft. Over time, an industry model has emerged, led by enterprises and involving rural workers who engage in home-based production. Currently, there are over 7 farmer groups involved in grass weaving and processing, employing more than 2,000 people. The annual income generated from this industry exceeds 12 million yuan, significantly contributing to local economic growth.
To further promote the craft, the Liubian Training Center offers specialized grass weaving classes. Recently, Wang Xiurong, a villager from Hou Xioutou, has been very busy. She recently completed a grass weaving training course organized by the county’s labor bureau. After learning the techniques, she purchased raw materials from the Spring Folk Arts and Crafts Factory and now works with her husband at home to create beautiful woven items. This not only helps her family earn extra income but also preserves a valuable cultural tradition.
